The Fairfield investigation brought in Fairfield Twp. Police after it was determined Byner had allegedly sold Geis drugs around the corner from Geis’ Fairfield home at the UDF on Tylersville Road in Fairfield Twp.
According to the Butler County Coroner’s Office, the autopsy showed Geis died from an accidental drug overdose of fentanyl and cocaine.
Byner is in the Kenton County, Kentucky Detention Center after being arrested in September on several charges, including a pair of unrelated drug trafficking charges, one related to cocaine and one related to fentanyl. Kentucky court records show he’s charged with promoting contraband and tampering with evidence.
He also faces a fugitive warrant from another state, though the Kenton County Clerk of Courts did not have a record of which state.
Byner has a $100,000 cash bond related to the fugitive warrant and $50,000 cash bond for the criminal case out of Covington, Kentucky.
He’s scheduled to appear in the Kentucky court for a pair of status hearings on Jan. 6 and 8.
Fairfield Twp. Police Sgt. Brandon McCroskey said once Byner can be extradited to Ohio, he will face the two felony charges in Butler County Court.
